5 Easy Ways to Make Your Favorite Foods Healthier

Are you trying to lose weight this spring? You can begin your journey by eating healthier. Start by making smarter healthier decisions and take it one step at a time.

Here are 5 surprisingly easy substitutions or alternative cooking methods for your favorite foods.

And, here is a bonus….  This works perfectly fine for family meals as well.

5 Easy Ways to Make Your Favorite Foods Healthier1.  Do you like rice with everything?  Enjoy Brown Rice or Quinoa instead of white rice.   The simplest way I find to make this transition is to do half and half. So, mixing 1 cup of brown rice or quinoa with one cup of white rice for starters. This will help you to get used to the taste and texture of the brown rice blend. Your kids will probably not notice the difference in their “rice.’ As you get more accustomed to the taste, you can switch over completely.

 2.  Having tacos or baked potatoes??  Use Original Greek Yogurt as a replacement.  You will still get the creaminess but with protein and not all the fat from sour cream.

4.  Love Pizza??? Make your own with a cauliflower crust. Rice the cauliflower in a food processor, microwave for 2 to 3 minutes and drain the cauliflower of excess water. Remove as much of the water as you can. Mix the cauliflower with eggs, basil, oregano, garlic, and parmesan. Form it into a dough ball and flatten on parchment paper. Bake 10 mins to precook. Add topping and finish cooking. Healthier pizza that tastes delicious with almost Zero Carbs!

Bottom line is while losing weight, you do not have to give up everything you love. You can still have the foods or meals you like but making small adjustments will make them healthier for you and your family. It helps to have everyone in the house eating healthier too so introduce your family to other options like juicing, green smoothies and protein shakes.  To help you get to your goals, look into supplements that when taken can help boost your metabolism and help you feel more energized to workout.

Stay positive and consistent. Your efforts to eat better and lose weight will pay off!
